Old Gichrist County Jail - Jan 2011

Date: January 2011

Investigators: John and various members of the North Central Florida Paranormal Alliance

This particular investigation was put together rather hastily as a result of a call from a student/reporter from the University of Florida. She works at a local newspaper and had seen an article written about Northeast Florida Paranormal Investigations and one of our past investigations. As part of her schooling, she was required to put together a presentation of which she chose the focus on Paranormal Investigations.

Her timeframe was very short and she needed to participate in an investigation as part of her work. I contacted the ladies from the Old Gilchrest County jail and they were gracious and very accommodating to open the jail for a mid-week investigation. The jail was a great location in not only it was local, but also very haunted.

This was not only a great opportunity for our guest but also a chance to work with the other members of the North Central Florida Paranormal Alliance. The alliance is a group of individual paranormal teams working together to help each other. NEFLPI was invited to join the alliance and readily accepted based on our interaction with the members in the past. It’s a great group of people and we look forward to working with them on many future opportunities.

Much of the night was focused on making sure our guest got a feel for the investigative process. We set up the DVR system and had a full array of handheld equipment for the nights investigation.

The jail didn’t disappoint, there were several personal experiences including some interesting interaction with the K2 meter and a flashlight in one of the upstairs cells. On numerous instances, the flashlight would turn on and off to requests.

Other investigators expressed experiences throughout the night and the jail lived up to its reputation. This is a location that is open to investigative teams and, if interested, contact us and we will forward the info to schedule your own experience.
